There are many photo and gallery applications for smartphones. One of them is the very popular Google Photos. In the Photos application, you can store all photos and videos on the phone for free, as well as back up them. Now it comes to the end of the unlimited storage space for Google Photos.
Planning to switch to a different system, Google wants to be able to meet the increasing demands.
Google Photos Ends Unlimited Storage
As of June 1, 2021, the free and unlimited storage space provided by the Photos application developed by Google will expire. As of this date, all new photos and videos uploaded to the application will be included in the free 15 GB storage space that comes with the Google account. The Google account was sharing the free storage space with Gmail and Drive. Among them, the Photos app will be included.
The demand for the Photos application, which was introduced about 5 years ago and allows you to view photos / videos on the phone without restrictions, is quite high. More than 4 trillion photos are stored in the Google Photos app. Users add 28 billion new photos and videos every week. Changes are being made to the unlimited storage policy that comes with Google Photos in order to keep up with the increasing demand and provide better service.
It was stated that high quality photos and videos uploaded before June 1, 2021 will not be included in the 15 GB area collected for users. All images and videos uploaded until this date will be exempted from the storage limit.
Google stated that after the change takes effect, 80 percent of the users will be able to use the 15 GB of space for up to 3 years without the need to delete photos. Google has again stated that it will not use the information obtained from the Photos app for advertising purposes.
